FAQ

How does Drew prepare for a reading?

Drew takes his voice work very seriously. In order to give each project his 100%, he carefully reads the project all the way through, determining first if the project is right for him and what value he can add to it.

If he determines that he can bring value to the project, he will read over the project again, figuring out the tone and different character voices, recording techniques, Microphone and preamp choice, and how to maximize the effectiveness of every word of the script.

In addition to the work he does with the script itself, Drew also takes care to keep his voice in the best shape he can, eating low carbs, low caffeine, and exercising daily to maintain the health of his lungs and diaphragm.

He also thoroughly warms up before every reading with vocal exercises to make sure that you are getting his very best effort.

What makes a Drew Rhodes reading special?

There’s no denying it- the readings that Drew does are special. There is a uniqueness about them, a genuine quality that can’t be faked. There is not a single word of a Drew Rhodes read that is phoned in, not a single breath or dramatic pause taken in vain. When you hire Drew Rhodes for your audio product, you are guaranteed quality.

His mission every time he reads, is not to bring attention to himself, but to call attention to your words, to your message.

Your project’s success is how he measures his success. And he won’t be happy unless you’re happy.

How much does Drew charge?

All prices are set depending on the length of the project, how much work will go into it, whether Drew will be doing the audio engineering himself or if it will be send out to another audio engineer.

What Gear does Drew use?

Drew’s two main microphones are a Sennheiser MKH 416 (used mostly for commercial and radio work) and the Telefunken TF 29 (used mostly for narration and vocal work).

His main audio interface is the Heritage Audio i73 Pro Edge, which used real analog 1073 style preamps. For certain projects, he will also use the Audient ID 24, for a cleaner, less colored sound.

What sorts of projects does Drew work on?
